“Aha!” moment hits at 1:22.
Do it pro bono
This month, I took on a new volunteer project working with Taproot Foundation, an organization of professional marketing, IT, and strategy management consultants that work pro bono with non-profits to provide services such as website development, and marketing strategy.
I’ll be posting more as the project progresses, but so far, I’m really impressed with the organization and the other professionals I’m working with on the project. It’s a great chance to build my skills, and make an immediate impact on my community.
If you’re looking to volunteer your time and skills to some very worthwhile non-profit organizations in your area, check them out.
If you already work with Taproot and want to help raise awareness, here’s some code you can add to your blog to display the little badge I created for the upper right corner of my website.
<div style="position:absolute;right:0;z-index:98;"> <map name="taproot"> <area href="http://www.taprootfoundation.org" target="_blank" shape="POLY" coords="0,0, 136,0 136,120" /> </map> <img class="noborder" src="http://www.thebigblueroom.com/wp-content/themes/thebigblueroom_2/images/taproot-badge.png" alt="Taproot Foundation" usemap="#taproot" /> </div>
Music
The first song I loaded up in the music player over in the sidebar is the only song I’ve completely written and recorded myself that I’ve ever been happy with. It’s pretty old and has been re-recorded several times over the years as my tools and skills improved.
I’ve got quite a few unfinished songs on deck, though, so hopefully that player will start to fill up. I’ll also be posting all my finished songs on the excellent music website, thesixtyone. So feel free to check that out as well. Eventually, I want to get a few songs together and put them up on iTunes for download.

New Design
It seems like just about every year I decide that it’s been too long since I updated my blog, spend some time tinkering around, and decide that I just don’t like the design anymore. Then I kill it, and redesign.
Well, it’s that time again.
I’ve got some plans for this site now, though, so this time it’s just a matter of following through on them. I hope I can make this an interesting website for me to share some of the things I enjoy, and maybe someone out there on the interwebs will find something useful.
